The Nexo PS-8 Loudspeaker System is the latest addition to Nexos acclaimed PS Series; versatile, compact, full-range loudspeakers tailored for a wide range of touring an installed sound reinforcement applications. Like all Nexo products, the PS8 loudspeaker and optional LS400 Subwoofer are designed to work with advanced electronic processors, guaranteeing consistent performance and reliability of the highest standard.

The Nexo PS-8 system is a breakthrough in size versus performance. It weighs in at only 7kgs and the tiny proportions allow it to virtually "disappear". Magnetic leakage is reduced to negligible values thanks to a new low magnetic emission Neodymium drivers, allowing use next to video or computer monitors without picture distortion. This is true even of the LS-400 sub-woofer. The dispertion, architecture and weight balance of the PS8 loudspeaker are designed to provide both exceptional PA and stage monitor performance from a single product without compromise.

A staple of the Nexo range, the PS Series is renowned the world over for its versatility in a compact, lightweight package.

Multiple applications

The multi-angled pseudo-trapezoidal shape enables PS cabinets to be used in FOH applications both vertically and horizontally while retaining the ability to provide serious, no compromise, two-position wedge monitoring. One key feature that makes all of this possible is that the user can rotate the CD horn through four positions.

Unique asymmetrical horn

The constant directivity asymmetrical dispersion horn in the PS Series solves one of the major problems facing most loudspeaker systems. Good coverage of most audiences requires a wider "short-throw" device for those in the near field and a narrower "long-throw" for distant areas. By combining both of these features in one CD horn unit, the PS Series ensures that people at the rear of the audience receive quality audio without those at the front walking out with a headache. In wedge monitor mode this feature is equally important as it provides an even sound pressure level as the performer moves back from the microphone. Near field coverage is essentially 100° with far field coverage 50°. Vertical dispersion is 55° and this is true for all PS models.

Dedicated system processors

The PS-8, 10 and 15 have their own, mandatory, dedicated controllers which takes a lot of the work out of setting up the systems. Apart from protecting the units from overdrive, the controllers ensure better dynamic control without spectral imbalance and a reduction of transient distortion. While permanently monitoring temperature, displacement and signal level of loudspeakers/amplifier outputs, the controllers also provide a significant increase in SPL without amplifier clipping.

Dedicated amplifier options

The PS-8 and PS-10 can also be operated via their own dedicated amplifiers which include the controller and further simplifies operation without compromising the performance.

Nexo PS-8TD Active Controller for PS-* and LS400

The PS8 TD Controller is an advanced analogue processor that allows the PS8 Loudspeaker and optional LS400 Subwoofer to achieve exceptional performance from such compact packages. The PS8 TD provides crossover, sensed amplifier control and system equalisation optimised for the PS8 and LS400. One PS8 TD has two inputs and three outputs, L, R and summed sub out, minimising installation cost and complexity. Like all Nexo processors, the PS8 TD provides precision dynamic, voice coil temperature and diaphragm displacement protection through the use of selective Voltage Controlled Equalisers (VCEQs), reducing levels only at frequencies when and where necessary.

The Nexo NX242 Digital TD Controller provides all the functions of the conventional Nexo analogue TD controllers combined with all the advantages of the latest digital technology.

The Nexo NX242 is an uprated version of the now discontinued NX241. As with the 241, it provides crossover, sensed amplifier control and system alignment, along with peak limiter, displacement and temperature protection on every channel.

NEXO ANXTENSION-ES4 NXtension-ES4 Expander board, Improves NX242 processing capacities and adds Digital Inputs/Outputs plus remote control functions via the DigiGram Ethersound network.
The Ethersound Interface provides 4 digital inputs and outputs (24bit/48KHz.)with digital audio distribution (64 channels) over Ethernet and ultimate low propagation delay allowing its use in the most demanding of live audio applications. In addition to this, the interface includes full network or local remote control management of channel adjsutment and remote control of all NX242 parameters.

Ethersound - Audio Distribution over standard Ethernet Digigram's Ethersound enhances established technologies with easy to implement, high quality audio networks. The patented EtherSound protocol provides full control with very low latency (125uS plus 1.6uS per additional network node) transmission of synchronised audio channels over standard Ethernet. EtherSound's cost effective, fully digital path between a virtually infinite number of networked audio devices offers up to 64 channels of 24bit digital audio at 48KHz.,plus bi-directional status and control data. Off the shelf Ethernet components such as 100baseTX switches can extend the number of audio devices as well as the distance between them.
